Rosie has been with Equine Voices since we rescued 72 burros in July 2013. She was rescued by Celine Myers of Ark Watch Foundation from a feedlot in Texas right before she and her baby “Bunny” were going to be shipped to slaughter. The feedlot was filled with other pregnant Jennies and Jennies that had already foaled. Rosie suffered from severe abscesses in all four hooves.
Rosie’s baby, “Bunny” died shortly after her rescue. Rosie spent seven weeks at a vet clinic in Texas to nurse her back to health before her arrival at the Sanctuary.
She and Dominic welcomed baby Rosetta in 2016.
Rosie loves attention, a good ear scratch will do. For the last 13 years they have enjoyed living life at the Sanctuary. Together they embraced returning rescued members to the herd in 2022. All the burros get along well. When it’s mealtime the squeals of joy and donkey brays can be throughout the entire ranch. Every donkey is so thrilled with the hay delivery. Even our ranch neighbors must hear the excitement!
We are looking for sponsors to help us feed and care for Rosie. Won’t you consider sponsoring her?
